About The Position

Forterra is seeking a skilled Fabricator/Welder to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in metalworking and fabrication techniques, with the ability to read and interpret schematics. This role requires mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience with various fabrication tools and machinery. As a Fabricator/Welder, you will contribute to the production of high-quality components used in various applications.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Accredited trade school diploma may be substituted for two years industrial experience.
• Three years machine shop or related experience.
• Experience in low quantity high diversity parts such as brackets, heatsinks, and electrical enclosures.
• Experience TIG welding Aluminum.
• Background in fabricating and welding.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and requirements.
• Familiar with ISO Standards and Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to organize, present, and articulate ideas both verbally and in writing.
• Knowledge of MS Office.
• Safe lifting technique and ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, sit, bend or lift for long periods of time.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with 3D cad software.
• Experience with CNC machine operation or programming.

Responsibilities

• Operate HAAS CNC Mills (willing to train right candidate)
• Operate Lathe
• Operate Drill Press
• Operate Band saw
• Operate Iron Worker
• Operate Media blasting equipment
• Operate Pedestal grinder
• Operate Miller Tig welder
• Operate Miller Mig welder
• Operate Miller Plasma Cutter
• Operate Angle Grinder
• Perform painting quality finishes on various materials.
• Operate Hot Coat Powder Coat System.
• Use various hand tools for dimensionally checking parts such as but not limited to calipers, height gages, pin gages, thread gages, countersink indicators.
• Use of basic Hand and power tools to complete tasking.
• Perform each step of the build process from stock cutting, machining, bending, welding, hardware install, and painting.
• Create fixturing parts for machining and welding.
• Cross check other team members parts as needed.
