About The Position

Perform all work of a trade or craft nature for which an employee is properly trained, to complete Fabricator assignments in a safe manner. Assist other employees assigned to Fabrication activities. Other skills and duties as required by management. In addition, skilled as a Machinist with strong experience in precision machining, setup, and operation of manual and CNC equipment. This role requires a detail-oriented professional capable of producing high-quality components from blueprints and specifications with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of machining principles, materials, and tooling.
  • Proficiency with CNC programming and setup.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T.
  • Experience with precision measurement and inspection tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience as a machinist, with demonstrated first-class skill level.
  • Vocational or college certification in welding/fabrication.
  • Must have experience in Mastercam CNC programming.
  • Ability to obtain and "L" clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain certification in ICP Respirator Program.
  • Must be capable of lifting 1/3 of personal body weight or 50 lbs., whichever is less.
  • Must be capable of performing physically demanding work including climbing and standing for a prolonged period.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to certify to the INL Welding Program.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • REAL ID-compliant driver's license or other state photo identity card required to gain access to all IEC and INL facilities.
  • Males born after December 31, 1959, must have registered with the Selective Service System (SSS).

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school certification or apprenticeship completion.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Familiarity with multiple machine platforms and controls (Fanuc, Haas, etc).

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC and manual machines including lathes, mills, and grinders.
  • Interpret and work from complex blueprints, schematics, and CAD drawings.
  • Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other inspection tools.
  • Maintain tight tolerances and ensure all parts meet quality standards.
  • Program and edit CNC machine code as needed (G-code knowledge preferred).
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments to optimize performance.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve processes.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Perform all work of a trade or craft nature for which an employee is properly trained, to complete Fabricator assignments in a safe manner. Perform other skills and duties as required by management.
  • Assist other employees assigned to Fabrication activities.
  • Attend training such as radiation worker, confined space entry, respirator, HazWoper 24- or 40-hour worker, etc., as required by management for the completion of assigned work activities.
