The Fabrication Technician I, II, III role involves performing various fabrication processes. Technicians are responsible for the safe use of hand tools, understanding and using measuring devices, and reading blueprints. Tasks are performed under varying levels of supervision depending on the technician's level (I, II, or III). The role may involve transporting materials, standing fire watch, painting, blasting, operating cutting and bending machines, and assisting with metal preparation for welding. Specific equipment includes vertical and horizontal saws, iron workers, press brakes, blasting cabinets, forklifts, pneumatic and electric hand tools, drill presses, and potentially overhead cranes and oxyfuel torches for Level III. Overtime and occasional second shift work may be required.
