About The Position

The Fabrication Technician I, II, III role involves performing various fabrication processes. Technicians are responsible for the safe use of hand tools, understanding and using measuring devices, and reading blueprints. Tasks are performed under varying levels of supervision depending on the technician's level (I, II, or III). The role may involve transporting materials, standing fire watch, painting, blasting, operating cutting and bending machines, and assisting with metal preparation for welding. Specific equipment includes vertical and horizontal saws, iron workers, press brakes, blasting cabinets, forklifts, pneumatic and electric hand tools, drill presses, and potentially overhead cranes and oxyfuel torches for Level III. Overtime and occasional second shift work may be required. Requirements

  • Basic understanding of Fabrication processes (Level I)
  • Safe use of common hand tools
  • Basic understanding of measuring devices (Level I)
  • Ability to read blueprints (Level I)
  • Experience in Fabrication processes (Level II, III)
  • Understanding of measuring devices (Level II)
  • Ability to read/interpret blueprints (Level II, III)
  • Ability to execute tasks with little or no direct supervision (Level II, III)
  • Working knowledge of basic fabrication equipment (Level II)
  • Advanced working knowledge of basic fabrication equipment (Level III)
  • Familiarity with basic fabrication equipment (Level I)
  • HS diploma or GED may be required depending on varying contract stipulations
  • 12 months related experience (Level I alternative)
  • 2+ years of related experience (Level II)
  • 2+ years of fabrication shop experience (Level II)
  • 5+ years of related experience (Level III)
  • 5+ years of fabrication shop experience (Level III)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and solve issues with little or no guidance (Level III)
  • U.S. citizenship is required for most positions
  • Fire watch certification
  • Lifting/moving up to and including 50 pounds
  • Standing for long periods of time

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree or trade school certificate preferred (in related field)
  • Forklift License preferred
