About The Position

TDA Research, Inc., located outside Denver, Colorado, is seeking a Fabrication Technician to join their team. This role involves hands-on fabrication and technical support in lab and shop environments, working under the direction of a Principal Engineer. The technician will interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to install, troubleshoot, calibrate, and assemble equipment. The position requires strong technical competency, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment. TDA Research focuses on developing cutting-edge chemical processes, materials, and devices for various industries, relying on a highly competent and efficient team of innovators.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3–10 years of experience in the installation, calibration, maintenance, rebuild, and repair of mechanical equipment and shop tools
  • Advanced welding skills with hands-on experience with MIG and TIG processes
  • Experience using manufacture’s recommendations to repair and perform basic maintenance
  • Strong experience with fabricating and assembling prototype test systems
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and innovative problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of physics, mechanical processes and fundamentals
  • Strong organizational skills and precise attention to details
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with engineers, technicians, and project teams from a variety of disciplines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Eligible to be fork truck certified

Nice To Haves

  • Trade schooling or certification in HVAC, hydraulics, electrical, robotics, automation or high vacuum system
  • Experience with automation systems, PLC’s, robotics and/or ladder logic
  • Experience in a prototyping or R&D environment
  • Local candidates only

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and mechanical issues across a variety of laboratory, mechanical, assembly and general use equipment
  • Repair and maintain equipment such as vacuum pumps, compressors, electric motors, transfer pumps, heaters, recirculating chillers, and mixers
  • Read and interpret complex mechanical drawings, schematics and SOP’s
  • Fabricate, assemble, and calibrate complex prototype test systems using plumbing, carpentry, wiring, and machining skills
  • Execute assigned machining and fabrication tasks, demonstrating the ability to work independently and complete projects with minimal oversight
  • Document records of inspections, maintenance activity, repairs, and other work performed
  • Lead the management of Shop inventory including organization and procurement
  • Maintain a clean workspace and follow OSHA, internal EH&S standards
  • Coordinate with various teams to improve and refine fabrication and quality processes
  • Document and maintain accurate and complex information in written and electronic format
  • Travel to remote worksites as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
