About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Fabrication Technician (Saw Operator) for our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the manufacturing industry, particularly in metal fabrication, a strong understanding of fabrication processes, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum 0- 4 years of experience operating shearing machine in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
  • Skilled in setting up and adjusting machines (e.g., Accurpress, Amada, or similar.)
  • Proficient with measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, protractors).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift up to 35lbs or more and stand for extended periods.
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate machinery, CNC, fabrication and manual sheet-metal shearing equipment.
  • Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and cut lists to determine correct tooling, machine settings, and setup requirements.
  • Adjust shear settings based on material type, thickness, and job specifications.
  • Inspect parts during production using calipers, protractors, tape measures, and other precision tools to ensure dimensional accuracy.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning on the equipment and related tooling to keep equipment in optimal working condition.
  • Support fabrication and assembly teams as needed to maintain workflow and meet production demands.
  • Verify that parts meet all dimensional, visual, and material quality standards before releasing them to the next production stage.
  • Accurately record production data, material usage, and any deviations or nonconformances in accordance with company procedures.
  • Promptly report defective materials, incorrect drawings, or machine malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Adhere to OSHA and company safety procedures, including proper use of PPE.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.

  • Work collaboratively with fabrication, engineering, and production teams to meet schedules and production goals.
  • Communicate effectively with engineers, supervisors, and other machine operators regarding setup changes, process issues, or improvement ideas.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and overall productivity.
