About The Position

With 19 service centers nationwide, McNICHOLS CO. is North America’s leading supplier and fabricator of “Hole Products,” including Perforated and Expanded Metals, Wire Mesh and Designer Metals, as well as a complete line of Metal Grating and Flooring Products. We have an opportunity for Fabrication Team Lead to join our team. The Fabrication Team Leader is responsible for team building, mentoring, fabrication, blueprint reading, and scheduling work orders. All uniforms, steel toed boots, welding gear, and safety equipment is provided in a clean, safe work environment. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years in a position coordinating and directing team efforts.
  • 3-5 years of solid fabrication experience (welding, shearing, sawing and cutting).
  • Ability to read blueprints and shop drawings.
  • Intermediate computer skills including MS Word, Excel and inventory systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently in a production oriented environment and perform against established performance standards
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and multi task.
  • Self-starter with a willingness to learn.
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate fabrication schedules for small warehouse team to ensure work orders meet shipment dates
  • Perform in process and final inspection on orders to maintain quality standards
  • Prepare and process all paperwork necessary to complete orders
  • Assist with welding, sawing, cutting, and shearing materials
  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop, and design drawings
  • Safely operate forklifts and /or cranes to move material as required
  • Ensure proper shop supplies are ordered and maintained
  • Observe safety procedures and report any safety issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
