About The Position

This is a night shift position. Standard working hours are Monday-Thursday 5:30pm - 6:00am. This position supports Cooper Steel’s goals, values, and philosophy by exhibiting excellence, quality service, commitment, and accountability. As a member of the Cooper Steel team, strong performance includes demonstrating communication, teamwork, job knowledge, and leadership. The Night Shift Fabrication Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and maintaining efficient fabrication processes throughout the facility.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of prior experience in a related field
  • Experience in both fitting and welding
  • Strong technical skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals
  • Good judgment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively with others.
  • Stand, stoop, bend, twist, lift, pull, and reach.
  • Use of hands for gripping and grasping is required.
  • Specific vision abilities are required.
  • Lifting is required for up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be flexible in hours worked and willing to work overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a strong quality culture throughout the company maintaining Cooper Steel’s core priorities: Safety, Quality, Production
  • Distribute shop drawings as required to fitting stations. Keep up with revisions and assure only the latest version is being used for fabrication
  • Maintain current sequence lists and ensure fabrication is meeting the time constraints of required deliveries
  • Distribute quality control/part ID tags to the correct fitting station
  • Assign work pieces to each fitting station as required to meet production goals in consideration of the speed and talent level of each fitter
  • Ensure detail material is ready and available for each piece as required before assigning workstations
  • Ensure shop bolts required for assembly are in the shop and ready for installation
  • Assist QC in scheduling and coordinating the inspection process
  • Monitor progress and push for completion of pieces in time by each fitter station
  • Ensure each fitter station has the tools and supplies necessary to complete the piece as assigned
  • Monitor work to ensure it is being performed safely per Cooper Steel safety standards.
  • Ensure PPE is supplied and worn correctly
  • Work with other departments in the shop to ensure the correct material is being processed
  • Act as a positive leader while leading teams and maintaining business relationships
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality of all Cooper Steel business affairs, internally and outside of the company
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Lead, supervise, and support fabrication team members to ensure safety, efficiency, and productivity
  • Monitor daily attendance and address absenteeism, tardiness, and unplanned absences.
  • Provide training, mentoring, and performance feedback to staff.
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and respectful team culture on the shop floor
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and one-on-one check-ins
  • Act as a first point of contact for employee concerns, grievances, and interpersonal issues.
