About The Position

In collaboration with other Fabrication floor supervisors and under the supervision of the Plant or Shop Manager, this position will be primarily responsible for the strategic planning and oversight of personnel within the assigned Hydronics Shop area(s). Supervises: Shop Floor Employees – Hydronics Trainees - Hydronics.

Requirements

  • Effective communicator at all levels of the business
  • Experience and deep understanding of all hydronics trades and fabrication practices
  • 15+ years of experience in construction including 5+ years in hydronics fabrication
  • Experience with the various business and corporate software technologies ACCO currently utilizes MS Office: Word, Excel, Project Google Workspace: Docs, Gmail, Sheets, Forms Others: Adobe, ProCore, Bluebeam, Box
  • Proficient in English.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting plans and specifications
  • Knowledge of: local quality, occupational safety, and health regulations for construction job sites

  • Degree or certification in construction management, engineering, or architecture
  • Experience in remote training softwares and technologies used within best-in-class organizations

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee Hydronics production personnel at the assigned location to ensure standards and productivity are met to achieve company goals
  • Assist direct reports with Resource management
  • Proper team selection for all fabrication activities
  • Execution strategies and scheduling of fabrication orders
  • Resolution of issues, challenges and obstacles
  • Understanding and execution of QA/QC protocols
  • Implementation of Safety Department’s protocols
  • Ensuring proper code practices, project submittals, applicable SOP’s and Weld Procedures are followed
  • Assist Plant/Shop Manager with hiring, Promoting and terminating of hydronics shop staff.
  • Attend regular department meetings (ie: Field leadership, regional shop production meetings)
  • Continuous evaluation of all personnel to ensure performance is at the highest level
  • Assist Plant/Shop Manager with maintaining proper staffing levels to meet project schedules and ensure productivity and efficiency standards are met.
  • Monitor and advise on quality control measures to ensure high-quality output at or above industry standards
  • Understand and ensure compliance with the current local union Collective Bargaining Agreements
  • Mentor and train shop personnel to be future leaders
  • Monitor all third-party vendors working on or at the assigned shop.
  • As required participate in project kick-off, mid-job and wrap-up meetings
  • Assist with tracking and evaluating all shop productivity metrics and ensure best practices are applied.
  • Assist Manager in departmental budgets and financial planning
  • General knowledge of current buildings and mechanical code
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned by the PlantShop Manager and/or upper management
  • Understand and support the strategic plan and corporate vision
  • Assist with development and implementation of processes and procedures to achieve high level quality, productivity and efficiency
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with fabrication operations (ie: assemblies, materials, equipment, personnel)
  • Ensure safety measures are up-to-date and communicate effectively to all shop personnel to mitigate risk and reduce liability
  • Adhere to and promote company policies
  • Instill a culture of accountability, integrity, ethics, and respect within the department
  • Assist with Recruiting, promoting and retaining highly skilled personnel across all shop activities.
  • Mentor, train and develop top performing shop personnel (succession planning) to meet current and future business needs and to avoid any gaps in strong workmanship
  • Create and foster collaborative relationships among leadership teams across varying departments and locations
  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives and projects to meet company growth objectives
  • Work closely with the Plant/Shop Manager and field leadership to ensure Material is provided as necessary to meet project needs, Customer expectations are achieved, Material fabrication and project schedules are met, Challenges are resolved, Labor and material cost are controlled and minimized
  • Collaborate with other Regional Shop and Construction Operations Leadership to share experiences to develop best practices, align processes, and leverage resources
  • Support the safety and field leadership teams to facilitate modified work schedules for injured personnel
