About The Position

Savannah Tank and Equipment Corp. is seeking a dedicated Project Manager to manage customer projects from PO award through final delivery. The company specializes in custom ASME Section VIII pressure vessels, API 650 storage tanks, heat exchangers, and modular process equipment for demanding industries. The Project Manager will have ownership of the work and flexibility in tools and methods, with a focus on providing customers with on-time, accurate updates and ensuring reliable information for internal teams. The role involves driving projects, keeping customers informed, aligning internal teams, and meeting ship dates. The company emphasizes quality, code-compliant engineering, and on-time delivery.

Requirements

  • 3+ years managing multiple concurrent projects in custom fabrication, industrial manufacturing, job-shop production, construction, or a similar environment.
  • Degree in mechanical engineering, mathematics, or similar area of study, or 7+ years practical experience.
  • Comfortable working in and around a shop environment.
  • Operates independently and brings problems to leadership already on a path to resolution.
  • Able to run focused, productive meetings with a clear agenda, decisions made, and respected time.
  • Comfortable holding peers accountable across departments.
  • Customer-facing presence: comes prepared, answers questions on the spot, and represents the company well.
  • Ability to read and discuss fabrication drawings, customer specifications, and technical documents.
  • Disciplined and reliable project record keeping that reflects reality and the team can trust.
  • Working knowledge of MS365 (Excel, Outlook, Word, SharePoint, Teams).
  • Able to navigate ERP systems e.g., JobBOSS.

Nice To Haves

  • 8+ years of relevant project management experience.
  • Experience with ASME pressure vessels, API 650 tanks, or AWS structural welding code work.
  • Experience with custom/one-off fabrication versus high-volume production.
  • Background in chemical processing, energy, water treatment, or similar end markets.

Responsibilities

  • Drive every project from PO award through final delivery, keeping customers informed, internal teams aligned, and ship dates intact.
  • Serve as the customer's main point of contact after PO award, communicating progress, issues, change orders, and delivery timing clearly and professionally.
  • Send regular updates with project photos.
  • Maintain the project-level schedule, including customer milestones, drawing release dates, fabrication start, and target ship dates, updating it weekly.
  • Track every job in flight through PRE FAB, FIT, TESTING, and FINISHING stages to know the status of each tank.
  • Lead internal project meetings with a clear agenda, decisions made, action items with owners and due dates, and follow-up communication issued the same day.
  • Lead recurring customer project reviews, understanding customer priorities and presenting progress, milestones, and changes with clarity and confidence.
  • Defend the customer-promised ship date by coordinating with production, engineering, and QC.
  • Work with internal teams to resolve issues and bring problems to leadership with a path to resolution.
  • Stay on top of all inputs affecting a tank's timeline, including materials, drawings, QC schedules, and vendor deliveries.
  • Coordinate change orders, working with Sales and Operations to determine and communicate the impact on cost and schedule.
  • Surface risks early to the team internally and to customers when needed.
  • Coordinate trucking and shipping logistics as projects approach completion.
  • Maintain accurate, organized records, including trackers, customer correspondence, milestone dates, and change orders.
