Fabrication Production Supervisor - Swing Shift

About The Position

We are launching a brand-new swing shift in September 2026, and we need a visionary, powerhouse leader to help build it from the ground up. As our Fabrication Production Supervisor, you will be working closely with our Fabrication manager to design its culture, structure, and operational workflow. This is a hands-on, floor-present leadership role reporting directly to the Fabrication Manufacturing Production Manager. The permanent hours for this role are Monday – Friday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM. However, to ensure you are fully aligned with our culture, processes, and equipment, you will initially train on the day shift (Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM) before transitioning to lead the evening team. You will be fully responsible for pioneering our swing shift operations to support Torus’s Flywheel Energy Storage Systems (FESS) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role requires a technically astute leader with deep roots in a metal manufacturing environment, elite organizational skills to handle the logistics of a new shift launch, and the practical working knowledge required to troubleshoot advanced machinery, guide operators, and ensure maximum precision and throughput.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED with extensive experience; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering field is a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in a heavy metal manufacturing or fabrication environment, with proven experience in a supervisory or team lead capacity.
  • Demonstrated operational or strong supervisory familiarity with CNC laser cutting (tube/plate) and precision forming equipment (manual press brakes and/or automatic panel benders).
  • Strong ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and basic digital workspaces (Google Workspace/MS Office).
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and manufacturing safety best practices.
  • Must have the ability to safely lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be capable of standing, bending, and executing repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to read, identify, observe and recognize details, color-coding and fine print at close range on associated engineering drawings.
  • Ability to don personal protective equipment to include, but not limited to, respiratory protective equipment with proper seal, coveralls, ear protection, gloves, eye protection & safety helmet.
  • Ability to observe, detect and respond to audible and visual machine malfunction warnings.
  • Ability to communicate information so others can understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Must report to work reliably and with the ability to use full and unimpaired skills and judgment to safely execute your job.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English required.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct programming, setup, or operational experience with BLM Group or Prima Power machinery.
  • Experience in energy storage, heavy industrial equipment, automotive, or aerospace manufacturing.
  • Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt or similar continuous improvement certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily fabrication activities to meet strict output targets, quality standards, and delivery schedules. Communicate shift priorities clearly across teams.
  • Serve as the primary floor resource to support, guide, and troubleshoot operations on key production machinery, including: Tube Laser: BLM Group ADIGE Laser Tube LT7, Manual Press Brakes: BLM Group Pro Bend E-Series (260-100 and 260-150), Automatic Panel Bender: Prima Power Express Bender (EBe2726 and EBe2226), Plate Laser: BLM Group ADIGE-SYS LS7Team, Welding Department: Oversee and support production welding operations.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of fabrication technicians, CNC operators, and setup personnel. Drive onboarding, cross-training, and performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Engineering to ensure all fabricated components meet tight tolerances, engineering drawings, and GD&T requirements.
  • Champion a culture of safety. Ensure absolute compliance with OSHA regulations, company PPE requirements, and machine safeguarding.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to minimize setup scrap, optimize material nesting/yields, and reduce cycle times.
