About The Position

Perform the following routine operations and daily maintenance under close supervision. Other duties may be assigned. This role involves assisting in material handling, checking incoming and outgoing materials for quality and quantity, preparing necessary documentation, and stacking completed work. The position requires monitoring and verifying that the quality and quantity of work performed meets Bobrick/Gamco standards, participating in and recommending new and improved work methods, and maintaining a healthy and safe environment by keeping the work area clean and following safe operating procedures. Daily pre-use inspection checklists for equipment must be performed. The role also includes operating various types of equipment such as mechanical shears, brake presses, punch presses, notching machines, turret presses, and spotwelders, while using all protective devices properly. Reporting any machinery problems to the supervisor or lead person immediately is crucial. The employee must be able to follow Rules of Engagement within Flow Principles, identify waste areas in production, and actively work to minimize them. Reading and understanding the daily production schedule is also a key responsibility. Minimizing defects by identifying quality issues using the 4-grade quality system and stopping to ask questions before proceeding for any category 1, 2, or 3 parts is essential. The ability to use calipers and gauges to verify parts matching the print is required.

Requirements

  • Must have the basic principles of self-balancing flow manufacturing and cross-train on all functions needed for assigned work cells.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees.
  • Ability to learn and understand Lockout Tagout procedures and Job Safety Analyses.
  • Basic math skills and be able to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must be able to measure length and read a caliper.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few routine elements in standardized situations.
  • Must be able to follow oral instructions.
  • Must be able to keep to a schedule and carefully carry out instructions.
  • Employee must organize their own work and keep the area clean and organized at all times.
  • Must be able to drive a forklift.
  • Must be able to wear safety glasses for up to 8 hours.
  • Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours per day.

Nice To Haves

  • Self-Balancing Flow manufacturing or cellular manufacturing knowledge/experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Reports on all unsafe conditions and hazards immediately.
  • Assists in material handling with pallet jacks, carts and other equipment.
  • Check in-coming and out-going material for quality and quantity. Prepare necessary documentation as required and report to the department lead.
  • Stack completed work on skids and moved to designated area, as required.
  • Monitor and verify that the quality and quantity of work performed meets Bobrick/Gamco standards.
  • Participate and recommend new and improved work methods in writing to your supervisor.
  • Maintain a healthy and safe environment by keeping the work area clean, materials positioned correctly and following safe operating procedures at all times.
  • Perform daily pre-use inspection checklist for equipment.
  • Operate various types of equipment including mechanical shears, brake presses, punch presses, notching machines, turret presses and spotwelders.
  • Uses all protective devices with guards properly set and in good repair.
  • Report any problems with machinery to the supervisor or lead person immediately.

  • Able to read and understand daily production schedule.
  • Performs duties of all lower grades.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
