About The Position

Perform routine operations and daily maintenance under close supervision. This role involves assisting in material handling, checking incoming and outgoing materials for quality and quantity, preparing necessary documentation, and stacking completed work. The position requires monitoring work quality to meet standards, participating in process improvement recommendations, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Daily pre-use equipment inspections are mandatory. The role involves operating various fabrication equipment such as mechanical shears, brake presses, punch presses, notching machines, turret presses, and spotwelders, while ensuring all protective devices and guards are used correctly. Employees must report any machinery problems immediately and adhere to Flow Principles, identifying and minimizing waste. Reading and understanding the daily production schedule is crucial. This role also involves performing duties of lower grades, minimizing defects by identifying quality issues, and using calipers and gauges to verify parts against prints.

Requirements

  • Perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Have the basic principles of self-balancing flow manufacturing.
  • Cross-train on all functions needed for assigned work cells.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees.
  • Ability to learn and understand Lockout Tagout procedures and Job Safety Analyses.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers.
  • Ability to multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to measure length and read a caliper.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few routine elements in standardized situations.
  • Ability to follow oral instructions.
  • Ability to keep to a schedule and carefully carry out instructions.
  • Organize own work and keep the area clean and organized at all times.
  • Must be able to drive a forklift.
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to stand and walk; talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to wear safety glasses for up to 8 hours.
  • Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours per day.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine operations and daily maintenance under close supervision.
  • Report all unsafe conditions and hazards immediately.
  • Assist in material handling with pallet jacks, carts, and other equipment.
  • Check in-coming and out-going material for quality and quantity.
  • Prepare necessary documentation as required and report to the department lead.
  • Stack completed work on skids and move to designated area, as required.
  • Monitor and verify that the quality and quantity of work performed meets Bobrick/Gamco standards.
  • Participate and recommend new and improved work methods in writing to your supervisor.
  • Maintain a healthy and safe environment by keeping the work area clean, materials positioned correctly and following safe operating procedures at all times.
  • Perform daily pre-use inspection checklist for equipment.
  • Operate various types of equipment including mechanical shears, brake presses, punch presses, notching machines, turret presses and spotwelders.
  • Use all protective devices with guards properly set and in good repair.
  • Report any problems with machinery to the supervisor or lead person immediately.
  • Follow Rules of Engagement within Flow Principles.
  • Identify waste areas of production and work actively to minimize.
  • Read and understand daily production schedule.
  • Perform duties of all lower grades.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Minimize defects by identifying quality issues using the 4-grade quality system and stopping to ask questions before proceeding for any category 1, 2, or 3 parts.
  • Use calipers and gauges to verify parts matching print.
