About The Position

Southern Specialties is looking for a Fabrication Operator to work at our climate-controlled facility, where components for sheet metal products are produced. Fabrication Operators will primarily be utilizing saws, drills, mills, taps, and other sanding, cutting, deburring, and grinding equipment to finish parts coming off the laser operator's table and moving the completed part to the next operation. The hours are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 6:00am-6:00pm. 3rd Shift employees receive an 11.5% shift premium for hours worked. This position is safety-sensitive because, in addition to the essential functions, it also involves performing one or more of the following essential tasks or duties: The operation of equipment, machinery or power tools Maintaining and monitoring the performance or operation of equipment, machinery or manufacturing process, the malfunction or disruption of which could result in injury or property damage. Generally, 95% of the normal work shift requires standing, bending, squatting, and climbing while running production, inspecting work and machines and checking procedures. Job requires moving of material and parts weighing up to 50 pounds. Lifting devices should be used when possible. Parts must be lifted, pulled, pushed, and held in place, sometimes without benefit of material handling devices due to limited space and confined areas in and around machines.

Requirements

  • Proficient with measuring equipment including Height Gauge, Calipers, Tape Measure, Squares, Angle Finders
  • Proficiency with Blueprints and Work Instructions
  • Experience with industrial machinery and equipment
  • Knowledge of basic shop math
  • Prior experience in metal fabrication
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Detail oriented and knows how to utilize hand/power tools

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in a fabrication environment preferred
  • Experience with Press Brakes and other metal forming machines and equipment
