About The Position

Cardinal Systems Inc. is a leading manufacturer of galvanized steel walls for in-ground swimming pools, as well as steel steps and benches, aluminum coping, liner track, deck drains, liner bead, and other custom fabrications. As a Fabrication Trainee, you will become an integral part of our manufacturing team, receiving hands-on training to learn fabrication processes, equipment operation, quality standards, and production procedures. This role is designed to develop the skills necessary to produce high-quality components for our product lines.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently
  • Proficient math skills required
  • Ability to use hand and power tools
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Good organizational skills
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently
  • Ability to climb, lift, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required
  • Ability to work at a steady and consistent pace
  • Ability to work overtime when necessary

Nice To Haves

  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred
  • Previous forklift operation experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Learn the functions of the Global Shop ERP system and utilize it as part of daily operations.
  • Learn how to read and understand fabrication schedules, work orders, and fabrication instructions.
  • Successfully complete safety and forklift training.
  • Safely and accurately operate material handling equipment.
  • Learn the basic fundamentals of machine setup and operation, including Press Brakes, Benders, and Heaters.
  • Understand company work instructions, production standards, safety procedures, quality standards, and SOPs.
  • Pick and package orders for shipping and production.
  • Develop an understanding of product knowledge to perform quality checks on parts.
  • Learn how to select the correct raw materials for production.
  • Learn how to knowledgeably read prints and technical documents.
  • Gain an understanding of departmental processes and workflow.
  • Monitor and review existing standards while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Maintain a level of quality that meets or exceeds company standards.
  • Complete production and quality data sheets accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow instructions provided by supervisors and leads to achieve production and quality goals.
