About The Position

Under direction of Fabrication Supervisor or their designee, performs shearing operations to a variety of small to midsize sheet metal blanks by achieving Bobrick standards of safety, product quality and productivity. They must continuously upgrade their job skills in keeping with changing technology and be able to function in a cooperative and supportive manner with all Bobrick employees.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree
  • 1 -2 years related experience and/or training in metal
  • Ability to read precision measuring instruments and simple shop sketches.
  • Ability to use measuring equipment (caliper, micrometer, etc.).
  • Good knowledge of shop and safety practices is essential.
  • Calculate and maximize number of parts from off cut selected.
  • Must have good communication skills both written and oral.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to complete simple math problems.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that compliance with company safety policies and regulations
  • Set up and operate at least 1 of fabrication’s machines
  • Complete Standard & International KB300/KB301 Cross-Training
  • Check in-coming and out-going material for quality and quantity.
  • Monitor and verify that the quality and quantity of work performed meets Bobrick standards.
  • Maintain the production process in a capable and aligned state.
  • Maintain a healthy and safe environment by keeping the work area clean, materials positioned correctly and follow safe operating procedures.
  • Conduct daily pre-start on equipment before the start of shift.
  • Report any unsafe conditions/hazards to department supervisor immediately.
  • Participate and support projects, charter teams and events to meet the company stated goals and budget.
  • Maintain equipment in good functional order.
  • Report any problems in business or equipment to department lead person and/or supervisor.
  • Use all protecting devices with guards properly set and in good repair.
  • Assist lead person in training lower grade employees in set up, machine operation, and safe working procedures including personal safeguards.
  • Assist higher grade operators in Tandem operations.
  • Prepare detail parts transfer.
