About The Position

Leads 3rd shift employees in the fabrication department, setting up and operating fabricating machines to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic workpieces. This role involves programming, setting up, and operating all machines, preparing the workload for the machines running on 3rd shift, and communicating with the Fabrication Manager and supervisory personnel on 1st shift. The position also requires verifying workpiece conformance to specifications, understanding fabrication of materials, training new personnel on computer and machine operation, inspecting parts, and maintaining a clean work area.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training and a High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before top management, middle managers, groups of customers, or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Programs, sets up, and operates all machines.
  • Prepares workload for the machines running on 3rd shift per manager’s instructions.
  • Communicates with Fabrication Manager and supervisory personnel on 1st shift. Reports information on employee performance for reviews and disciplinary actions.
  • Verifies conformance of workpiece to specifications.
  • Understands fabrication of materials, metallic and non-metallic.
  • Teach all new 3rd shift personnel to use computer to log in and out and on each machine how to light curtain.
  • Inspects parts using precision measuring equipment and documents inspection data.
  • Cleans and organizes work area.
