About The Position

Sundt is looking to hire Ironworker Welder/Fabricators (Shop). Welders with experience with AWS D1.1/D1.6 and/or ASME section IX are preferred. This role involves cutting, joining, and shaping raw metal into specific products, parts, or structural components. The individual will interpret blueprints and must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen as well as a weld test. The weld test consists of 1/2" carbon steel plate with 1/8" open root in 2G and 3G position using .035 GMAW downhill and .045 FCAW uphill. The job summary includes planning, laying out, and performing all types of structural steel erection and fabrication work in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. The role may also involve working in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision. The individual must have the ability to take direction from a higher skilled worker or foreman.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read and understand drawings, specifications, safety and quality standards and effectively utilize all trade tools and equipment relevant to the work.
  • Must have a minimum of three years (level I), four years (level II), five years (level Ill) and six plus years (level Sr.) experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry and have an in-depth understanding of the ironworker trade.
  • Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis
  • May use telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices on a limited basis to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors
  • Move in and around confined, cluttered and uneven areas.
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
  • Will climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
  • Will lift, push or pull objects up to 50lbs. on an occasional basis
  • Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen
  • Must be able to pass weld test (1/2" carbon steel plate with 1/8" open root in 2G and 3G position using .035 GMAW downhill and .045 FCAW uphill).
