About The Position

L3Harris is seeking a TIG Welder for their night shift at their facility in Redmond, WA. This position is responsible for welding various metals of Company products, fixtures, test stands, industrial structures, tooling and related equipment, components and product parts by using available welding processes including manual fusion welding and by mechanized or automated processes, including laser, in-place-tube, to do longitudinal and circumferential welding of assemblies. The Welder is responsible for setup and ensuring that the weldments meet the external and internal requirements of the applicable weld specification. In the Redmond, WA site (Seattle area), the company fabricates, assembles, and tests chemical and electric thrusters, as well as small scale propulsion systems. Their electric propulsion systems enable a wide variety of missions from the exploration of our solar system to global communication and the surveillance of severe weather and wildfires.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
  • 6 + years with G.T.A.W. experience welding hard alloys (stainless steel, titanium, Inconel and / or steel).
  • Experience welding duct assemblies (or similar) and controlling weld distortion and shrinkage.
  • Experience reading, comprehending and using planning and drawings to meet required specification requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience welding Rocket engines and or propulsion systems.
  • Prior experience using mixed torch gases (95Ar / 5H2, Argon Helium mixes).
  • Prior certification in In-Place-Tube, Automatic or Orbital Welding.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding in accordance with existing manufacturing instructions
  • Set up and operate automatic inert gas arc welding machines to do such welding as longitudinal and circumferential welding of assemblies.
  • Layout locations and make own setups as required.
  • Weld Company products by certified processes maintaining critical alignment tolerances and improvising tooling and holding fixtures as required.
  • Manually fusion weld various metals for fabrication of tooling, and maintenance, repair and assembly of plant machinery, equipment and buildings.
  • Perform other manufacture tasks as assigned by supervisor to achieve production requirements
  • Complete training and attend company meetings as required
  • Must have a proven safety record and experience with PPE.
