About The Position

This position is responsible for the forming, cutting, sharpening, piercing, welding and/or the painting of fabricated materials for the use in a final product. The role involves working with various fabrication processes including metal forming, cutting, piercing, welding, and painting. The associate will be responsible for their own product quality, proper measuring techniques, and tool use and care. They will also evaluate and perform basic troubleshooting, obtaining support from supervision and engineering as needed. Periodic input to supervision, engineering, and quality groups regarding product improvement may be requested. The position requires establishing and maintaining a safe and healthful working environment in accordance with OSHA requirements. Other tasks may be requested to ensure effective and continuous utilization of assets. The role requires reading and understanding moderately complex blueprints, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and schematics. Specific duties in the Fabrication Shop include forming, cutting, and piercing metal to create fabricated assembly units, utilizing a variety of hand tools, air tools, and measuring equipment, and operating moderately complex to very complex fabrication machinery with digital/electronic controls. Material movement within the cabinet shop area is also a responsibility. In the Paint Booth, the associate will operate complex to moderately complex paint spraying equipment, potentially be exposed to hazardous chemicals, and be responsible for chemical storage and care. Paint mixing and preparation, and continuous loading and unloading of parts are also required. In Welding, the associate will perform moderately complex welding operations, utilize a variety of welding equipment with all safety measures, and may be exposed to extreme temperatures and confined areas. Moving parts in and out of the Welding area is also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Must be able to take and successfully pass an appropriate Work Keys assessment
  • 1-2 years’ experience in area assigned to (Painting, Welding, Fabrication)
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Ability to work independently
  • Good understanding of basic shop math and measuring techniques
  • Expertise with basic hand tools, air tools, gages and torque wrenches
  • Expertise in using hoist and cranes

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for own product quality, proper measuring techniques, and tool use and care

  • Performs a variety of operation to include but not be limited to: Cutting, Piercing, Forming, etc.
  • Utilizes a wide variety of hand tools, air tools, and measuring equipment
  • Operates moderately complex to very complex fabrication machinery, using digital/electronic controls
  • Responsible for movement of materials within the cabinet shop area
  • Operates complex to moderately complex paint spraying equipment.
  • Responsible for storage and care of chemicals
  • Mixes and prepares paint
  • Continuously loads and unloads parts
  • Performs moderately complex welding operations.
  • Utilizes a variety of welding equipment, ensuring all safety measures are used.
  • Moves parts in and out of Welding area
