About The Position

The Aerodynamics Fabrication Technician supports Ford’s Advanced EV development teams in prototype fabrication and testing. Reporting to the Prototype Operations Manager, the technician works under the direction of the Lead Aerodynamics Prototype Technician to support the Experimental Aerodynamics team with test-article builds and wind-tunnel testing of new vehicle models. Test articles are generally full-scale vehicle models built around steel frames and assembled from fabricated, machined, and 3D-printed components representing vehicle exterior surfaces. Materials may include wood, high-density foam, 3D-printed plastics, composites, and fabricated parts and brackets. Models are instrumented to capture air pressure and other data; prototype vehicles may also be adapted for wind-tunnel testing. The technician also supports other teams developing and testing next-generation electric vehicles. Using Ford’s in-house fabrication space, tools, and equipment, the technician fabricates prototype parts, test articles, and test equipment. When needed, the technician manages outsourced prototype production through internal Ford teams or approved external vendors. The position is hybrid and requires onsite work four or more days per week.
