About The Position

The Fabric Cutter Operator works under the direction of the Foam Fabrication Manager in the Foam Department. The role is responsible for safely and efficiently operating the Fabric Cutting machine and maintaining efficient machine operation to meet production levels. The operator performs material-cutting and related machine-shop work in support of the production floor, using computer-controlled, preprogrammed cutting instructions and following quality and safety requirements.

Requirements

Experience as a machine operator or a minimum of one year of factory-related experience.
Basic familiarity with operating a computer.
Knowledge of cutting methods and ability to complete work to quality specifications.
Ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
Flexibility to work a changing schedule according to production demands.

Responsibilities

Perform typical machine-shop and material-cutting operations to support the production floor.
Enter commands at the computer control console to retrieve preprogrammed cutting instructions and start the machine.
Detect and report defective materials or questionable machine or production conditions to the Foam Fabrication Manager or lead.
Keep the work area and equipment clean and orderly.
Follow prescribed safety regulations for use of personal protective equipment (P.P.E.).
Perform prescribed preventative maintenance on machines.
Use basic machine functions to complete assigned tasks.
Accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance with machine set-up.
Work in any production area as needed.
Adjust to a changing work schedule according to production demands.
