About The Position

The F135 International Sustainment organization is seeking an experienced individual to support F135 engine inspection/mechanic requirements at the Japan F-35 Airframe Final Assembly and Check Out (FACO) and Airframe Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul and Upgrade (MRO&U) facility in Nagoya, Japan. The selected individual will be part of a small P&W team comprised of one Field Service Engineer and three Engine Inspectors. The team will be responsible for ensuring that all Propulsion related tasks/requirements are met in support of aircraft assembly and modification by the host customers of MHI/Japan Ministry of Defense/Lockheed Martin. The selected international assignee is expected to support an assignment duration of 36 months in country; however, it could be longer or shorter dependent on business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of related experience OR AA/AS degree and 4-10 years of related experience OR 2 years equivalent training/education post high school and 9+ years of related experience.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • US Passport must be obtained and held throughout assignment for required international travel.
  • Must be able to obtain required work visas and permits within the normal processing time through RTX Global Mobility.
  • This position requires Inspector status.
  • Employees pending final approval for inspection certifications will be considered with verification from their current manager of their status.
  • Employees who are former inspectors will be considered only if they are able to obtain PW/Quality Certification upon assuming this role.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all necessary work to inspect, build, service, and sustain F135 propulsion systems in accordance with company and customer directives at the Japan FACO and MROU.
  • Work on engines installed in the F-35A variant in addition to uninstalled engine assets.
  • Work directed by local Field Service Engineering (FSE) to investigate problems, facilitate repairs and/or modifications as necessary to the engine, module, and components per applicable directives.
  • Perform routine inspection and productive maintenance of applicable propulsion support equipment.
  • Collaborate and communicate amongst team members, industry partners and international customers with potential language barriers and cultural differences.
  • Work with maintenance platforms, ascend/descend maintenance stands, lift 25 pounds to a height of 4 feet, and position self to perform maintenance/inspections underneath engine rails, inside air vehicle intakes and inside exhaust ducts.
  • Perform EH&S inspections and related work.
  • Support recurring proficiency and certification requirements amongst colleagues.
  • Provide over-shoulder technical guidance and support during F135 maintenance activities as conducted by international customers.
  • Utilize CORE tools and methodologies to support local work activities.
  • Support/lead team projects/activities and other duties as assigned.
