About The Position

Maine Optometry is growing and seeking a friendly, detail-oriented Eyewear Sales Consultant/Optician to join their team. This full-time, in-person role involves helping patients select and fit eyewear, providing exceptional customer service, and contributing to a positive work environment. While experience in healthcare or customer service is a plus, it is not required as comprehensive training is provided. The ideal candidate will have a "can do" spirit and a strong drive to deliver exceptional customer service and eyewear to help patients in the community.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in healthcare or customer service is a plus but not required
  • American Board of Opticianry (ABO) certified, optical dispensing experience preferred, not required
  • Knowledge of current optical frame styles and trends

Responsibilities

  • Help patients select eyewear and adjust it to their specifications for a perfect fit and function.
  • Greet patients with a smile, offer immediate assistance, and explain the eyewear shopping experience.
  • Take and record measurements, adjust or fit eyewear correctly, and ensure finished eyewear meets standards and patient requirements.
  • Explore customer needs and priorities by asking open-ended questions.
  • Review prescriptions, identify special needs, and consult with optometrists and partner with management as needed.
  • Custom fit glasses and precisely inspect eyewear; reinforce patients’ final selection.
  • Demonstrate superior product knowledge and accurately describe the features and benefits of various lenses and frames using appropriate tools.
  • Anticipate problems, explore underlying reasons for patients’ issues, and develop long-term solutions.
  • Present and educate patients on eyewear; commit to delivery date and time of expected eyewear.
  • Keep frame boards clean, attractive, and organized.
