About The Position

This position is a tiered position and is overall responsible for being the technical leader, being able to trouble shoot and drive down scrap. This job will require executing the daily plan set forth by business needs while fostering a work environment that supports safety, quality, productivity, teamwork, training and development, and the overall Reschcor culture. The Extrusion Technician ensures effective employee relations and provides employee coaching and manufacturing development. They balance safety, quality, productivity, and morale to achieve positive results within the cell and work to continuously improve in all areas. This role assists with achieving daily production requirements and accurately reporting these results, participates in and actively supports the facility safety systems, and understands and utilizes the Quality Management system. Responsibilities include troubleshooting machinery/equipment, following up on production and quality issues with direction from supervisors, and managing the use of regrind material in profiles as per BOM. The technician practices 5s and lean manufacturing principles and ensures these practices are maintained within the cell. Lead Technicians will need to enjoy working in a hands-on, fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Proficient with basic arithmetic, algebra, statistical calculations, and metrology including rulers, tape measures, and calipers
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong ability to problem solve
  • Technical knowledge of extrusion
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to interact within all levels of the organization
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Experience working within ERP system, preferably IQMS
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documents
  • Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, walk up and down stairs and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Available to work a 12 hour rotation schedule: working 4 days one week and 3 days the next week

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in plastics is preferred but not required
  • Lean manufacturing or six sigma experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting machinery/equipment
  • Following up on production and quality issues with direction of Shift Supervisor and Production Manager and Quality Manager
  • Using a percentage of regrind back into the profiles as deemed acceptable by the BOM
  • Practicing 5s and lean manufacturing principles and assuring that lean practices are being maintained within the cell
  • Reading and following Reschcor Parameters/Prints/Quality Plans/Packaging Documentation
  • Calculating with basic arithmetic and metrology using rulers, tape measures, calipers
  • Reading and following routing information for work orders
  • Cleaning out Loaders/Blenders/Dryers
  • Purging, cleaning out, and bumping screws on extruders properly
  • Removing and installing simple dies and sizing in tanks with instruction
  • Setting up and operating common downstream equipment with instruction
  • Cleaning out production line grinders and applying labeling properly
  • Loading hoppers and hand mixing material into extruders (Main and Co-Extruder)
  • Setting extruder temperatures and starting extruder warm-up procedure
  • Following tool routing procedures
  • Managing raw material usage at the extrusion lines
  • Setting up and producing quality profiles on single or twin-screw extruding lines
  • Setting up and producing quality profiles on downstream equipment for frequently run profiles
  • Following processing parameters for commonly used materials
  • Following setup and Dozuki instructions with limited assistance
  • Stringing up and saving common profiles with minimal scrap generated
  • Producing quality profiles with limited assistance of others
  • Problem-solving issues and suggesting continuous improvement activities
  • Training and developing jr lead technicians
  • Identifying and assisting in resolving safety and productivity issues
