Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to mechanical machinery.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Exposure to lean tools such as 5S, Root Cause/Corrective Actions, Standardized Work, KPI’s, Daily Management System (Visual).
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and drive accountability within team.
  • Aptitude for math, problem-solving, computers, and mechanics.
  • Attention to detail and good color vision.
  • Ability to work and communicate well with others.
  • Ability to map the basic production processes and associated risks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day activities on the production floor to ensure a safe and clean environment.
  • Ensure operators have adequate materials and supplies.
  • Monitor product flow and ensure daily targets are met.
  • Champion 5S standards within the department.
  • Drive safety, quality, continuous improvement, associate development, team engagement, and operating results.
  • Train team members, set daily resource strategy, and monitor progress towards team goals.
  • Implement and enforce established Safety and Quality policies.
  • Act as a resource for team members and escalate issues or process disruptions.
  • Coach operators on best practices to foster a safe and productive culture and improve engagement.
  • Assist the Supervisor in driving safety and instill a 'safety first' mindset.
  • Train, coach, and hold employees accountable for maintaining area standards (5S, standardized work, waste/risk observation).
  • Provide specific feedback and coaching, including positive reinforcement.
  • Identify coaching opportunities through Gemba walks and metric/visual management review.
  • Act as a problem solver on the floor using Root Cause Corrective Action methodologies.
  • Perform production duties and fill-in as needed for absenteeism and vacation.
  • Drive 5S principles and support continuous improvement activities.
  • Maintain process parameters and appropriate records.
  • Troubleshoot process and equipment, making minor adjustments as needed.
  • Ensure effective shift handoffs, including housekeeping, productivity, and critical information pass-down.
  • Own the daily schedule and manage resources to meet production requirements.
  • Confirm production orders in SAP and resolve COGI errors, escalating unresolved issues.
  • Ensure metric boards are up-to-date and escalate repeat disruptors.
  • Coordinate with Material Handlers and Clamp Drivers for raw material replenishment and finished goods staging.
  • Drive daily TPM efforts with operators and maintenance.
  • Escalate issues in a timely and appropriate manner with relevant background information.
  • Schedule time efficiently to accomplish tasks and engage directly with the team.
  • Adhere to and review leadership standardized work (LSW).
  • Assign team members based on production needs and attendance at the start of each shift.
  • Instill a sense of urgency to meet and maintain productivity and quality targets.
