About The Position

This role is responsible for supporting the extrusion process, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency in fulfilling customer orders. The position involves operating equipment, inspecting materials, packaging products, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. The primary focus is on meeting customer specifications and delivery schedules while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent degree
  • 1+ years of manufacturing experience preferred
  • Strong computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to recognize safety concerns
  • Knowledgeable in company-wide computer systems and programs
  • Ability to utilize the proper inspection equipment per designated cell area
  • A highly motivated self-starter
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong coordination and judgment skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to detect minor defects in the finish of the product
  • Ability to read die drawings and inspect parts according to customer specifications
  • Ability to properly use appropriate measuring tools
  • Knowledge of the age cycle and the effect it has on the material
  • Knowledge of the performance measures of the department and company

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety is the number one priority and promote a safe work environment.
  • Exhibit active leadership to model and support the company’s vision and strategies.
  • Set up and run equipment safely and efficiently to maximize output and meet quality requirements.
  • Accurately and efficiently fulfill customer orders, including packing and reviewing manufacturing orders.
  • Ensure all quality practices are followed and perform inspections of aluminum extrusion orders.
  • Check the hardness and temper of each alloy.
  • Package orders based on customer specifications.
  • Load trailers based on customer specifications as needed.
  • Meet delivery schedules to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Set up and run cutting equipment for modifications to aluminum parts.
  • Inspect parts to ensure they meet customer quality specifications and perform proper deburring.
  • Inspect parts to ensure no nylon residue is left after processing.
  • Perform general machine maintenance as necessary.
  • Document process information using set-up sheets and/or manufacturing orders.
  • Monitor and make correct process changes for packing or changing rates.
  • Provide suggestions and continuous improvement ideas.
  • Distribute baskets to and from extrusion press lines.
  • Provide extrusion press support if needed.
  • Keep work area clean and orderly using the 5S system.
  • Continually support and improve the department’s key measures.
