About The Position

This is a full-time position for an Extrusion Press Helper on the 1st shift. The role involves assisting press operators, following instructions, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of extrusion equipment. Responsibilities include preparing the billet oven and press, managing the extrusion process, ensuring proper metal transfer and cutting, achieving production goals, and documenting all extruded orders.

Requirements

  • Ability to adhere to all policies, procedures, rules, quality, and customer service standards.
  • Ability to identify safety hazards and report them to management.
  • Ability to comply with all safety guidelines.
  • Ability to assist press operators and follow instructions.
  • Ability to ensure machine is in safe working order.
  • Ability to power up log oven/extrusion press and pullers.
  • Ability to review press schedule and prepare billet oven and press.
  • Ability to lead die out by building pressure on press.
  • Ability to ensure safe transfer of metal from press to pullers and cooling table.
  • Ability to properly shear off the butt of the billet.
  • Ability to ensure Maximum pounds per hour are achieved.
  • Ability to verify run out of metal accommodates finished saw cut length with proper end scrap.
  • Ability to document all orders extruded into press report.
  • Ability to enter extruded order information into EPICS system.
  • Ability to power down log oven, extrusion press, and pullers.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, rules, quality, and customer service standards.
  • Identify safety hazards in the workplace and report them to management.
  • Comply with all safety guidelines.
  • Assist press operators and follow instructions to accomplish department goals.
  • Ensure that the machine being operated is in safe working order.
  • Power up log oven/extrusion press and pullers.
  • Review the press schedule and prepare the billet oven and press accordingly.
  • Lead the die out by building pressure on the press once the die is inserted by the lead man.
  • Ensure that metal is safely transferred from the press to the pullers and then onto the cooling table.
  • Make sure the butt of the billet is properly sheared off at the end of each extrusion.
  • Ensure that Maximum pounds per hour are being achieved.
  • Verify that the run out of metal will accommodate the finished saw cut length with the proper end scrap needed.
  • Document all orders extruded into the press report.
  • Enter all extruded order information into the EPICS system on the computer.
  • Power down the log oven, extrusion press, and pullers.
