About The Position

An Extrusion Operator is responsible for setting up and controlling extrusion machines. These machines heat materials such as metals and plastics and push them through a mold that shapes the material. The operator ensures safe, efficient, and accurate production while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, or crouch as needed to perform job duties
  • Ability to use hands and fingers for repetitive motions, including grasping, handling, and operating tools or controls
  • Ability to push or pull light materials, carts, or pallets
  • Ability to reach above shoulder level or below waist level as required
  • Ability to visually inspect materials, labels, and equipment, including close vision and color differentiation
  • Ability to hear alarms, machine sounds, and verbal instructions in a production environment
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that may include noise, heat, dust, or moving machinery
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Effective time management and ability to meet deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Arrive at work at least 5 minutes before the start of the shift.
  • Communicate with the previous shift regarding issues or abnormalities.
  • Check labels and verify all information is accurate.
  • Walk the machine to ensure there are no broken or twisted ends.
  • Weigh each bobbin and confirm weight consistency.
  • Before starting a case, weigh the pallet and record the weight (ensure the machine is not touched while using the scale).
  • For finished cases, take them to the wrap machine and pack appropriately.
  • Gather all waste, record weights, and condense waste into boxes when possible.
  • Cleanliness is mandatory — machines and work areas must remain clean, organized, and free of unnecessary waste at all times.
  • Cell phones may only be used during breaks unless dealing with a sick child or an emergency; no phone use on the production line.
  • Notify your supervisor at least 2 hours prior if you will be absent or late. Anything less is considered a no-call/no-show.
  • Immediately report any equipment issues to the shift leader.
  • Follow all the supervisor’s instructions; teamwork and operational continuity are essential.
  • Responsible for additional duties and accountabilities that will be assigned as needed.
