About The Position

The Extrusion Operator is responsible for the setup, maintenance, and operation of at least one extrusion machine to ensure efficient operation and product quality that meets standards. This role assists the supervisor in maintaining an organized, controlled, and profitable extrusion department. T.O. Plastics, a custom thermoformed parts and packaging manufacturer since 1948, is a leading company in North America, dedicated to customer needs and offering a full range of services from design to distribution. The company has facilities in Clearwater and Otsego, Minnesota.

Requirements

Knowledge of plastic fabrication and the extrusion process.
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability.
Ability to read and write English at an intermediate level.
Ability to perform intermediate math.
Ability to obtain a forklift license and operate it safely.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on an occasional basis.
Visual acuity to discern and make quality decisions regarding material.
Proficient computer skills.

Responsibilities

Prepares material for setup using a crystalizer, blender, and dryer.
Sets up the machine according to the Job Order.
Monitors the assigned machine to ensure efficient operation.
Performs quality checks and testing throughout the process, making basic adjustments to control appearance and quality.
Troubleshoots machine issues and performs necessary repairs.
Completes log and transfer tickets.
Identifies opportunities for process improvement and assists with implementation.
Performs and assists with roll and die changes.
Performs preventive maintenance on the machine.
Maintains a neat and organized work area through housekeeping duties.
Attends and participates in safety, tool box, and other meetings.
Performs other duties as requested by the supervisor/manager.
