About The Position

The Extrusion Operator assists senior Extrusion Operators with various tasks including order changes and set-ups. Key responsibilities involve performing quality inspections, cutting and preparing rolls, monitoring silo levels, and managing the unloading of rail cars. The role also requires preparing production logs, product tags, and time cards, operating a scrap grinder, understanding the recycle system, and transporting roll stock to the warehouse. Adherence to regular and punctual attendance, plant safe housekeeping guidelines, and compliance with SQF/HACCP requirements are essential. The position demands specific mathematical skills for measurements and calculations, as well as significant physical capabilities including lifting, pushing heavy rolls, and various movements.

Requirements

  • Ability to add and subtract three digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform mathematical operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to regularly stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to frequently talk, hear, and push round rolls with varying weight of 140 – 600 lbs.
  • Ability to occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Extrusion Operators II, III, & IV with order changes and set-ups.
  • Performs quality inspections and tests.
  • Cuts rolls, weighs and prepares roll tickets.
  • Monitors and measures silo levels and unloading of rail cars.
  • Prepares production logs, product tags and time cards as necessary.
  • Operates scrap grinder as required and understands recycle system.
  • Transports roll stock to warehouse.
  • Regular and punctual attendance.
  • Follows and participates in plant safe housekeeping guidelines designed to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Remains compliant with SQF / HACCP requirements as per this location’s written “Food Safety & Quality Policy”.
