About The Position

The Extrusion Operator consistently and safely operates machines at or above standard levels of operation including waste, quality, efficiency and utilization. This role involves troubleshooting, identifying, and correcting machine-related problems through proper adjustments, providing innovative solutions for production issues, and offering support and guidance to less experienced personnel. The operator is also responsible for completing end-of-shift paperwork, accounting for crewing time, machine time, and production quantities, and inspecting and recognizing defective product to make necessary machine adjustments.

Requirements

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment as a Setup Operator or Extrusion Machine Operator
• Ability to show up for work prior to shift and be prepared to get the day going on time
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting experience working with Extrusion Machines
• Excellent communication skills, detailed record keeping per the prescribed frequency
• Analytical and math skills
• Ability to perform quality checks and have an understanding of production measurement tools
• Knowledge of product quality standards
• Comfortable wearing PPE such as hairnets, beard-nets, steel toed shoes/boots, ear protection and bump-caps when required
• Manual dexterity
• Mechanical aptitude
• Demonstrated problem solving skills
• Effective communication skills - written and verbal

Responsibilities

• Consistently and safely operates machines at or above standard levels of operation including waste, quality, efficiency and utilization
• Trouble shoot, identify and correct machine related problems through proper adjustments to various parts of the machine
• Provide innovative solutions for production issues
• Provides support and guidance to less experienced personnel
• Completes appropriate end of shift paperwork, accounting for crewing time, machine time, and production quantities
• Able to inspect and recognize defective product and make machine adjustments to correct cause of defects
• Observes all housekeeping, standard work and safety guidelines
