About The Position

The Extrusion Operator is responsible for the setup, maintenance, and operation of at least one extrusion machine to ensure efficient operation and product quality that meets standards. This role also assists the supervisor in maintaining an organized, controlled, and profitable extrusion department. T.O. Requirements

• Knowledge of plastic fabrication and the extrusion process.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability.
• Ability to read and write English at an intermediate level.
• Ability to perform intermediate math.
• Ability to obtain a forklift license and operate it safely.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on an occasional basis.
• Visual acuity to discern and make quality decisions regarding material.
• Proficient computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up, maintain, and operate extrusion machines.
• Ensure machines run efficiently and produce products meeting quality standards.
• Assist the supervisor in managing the extrusion department.
• Prepare material for setup using crystallizer, blender, and dryer.
• Set up machines according to the Job Order.
• Monitor assigned machines for efficiency.
• Perform quality checks and testing, making basic adjustments as needed.
• Troubleshoot and repair machine issues.
• Complete log and transfer tickets.
• Identify and implement process improvement opportunities.
• Perform and assist with roll and die changes.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on machines.
• Maintain a neat and organized work area through housekeeping duties.
• Attend and participate in safety, toolbox, and other meetings.
• Perform other duties as requested by supervisor/manager.
