About The Position

The Extrusion Operator assists the Extrusion Tech with the operation of a high-temperature plastic extrusion and slitting line. Key responsibilities include roll changeovers, packaging, monitoring raw materials, and operating reclaim equipment to grind or pelletize scrap. The role also involves reworking rolls to remove defects and performing various ERP tasks on the computer. This is a safety-sensitive position.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Good mathematical skills.
  • Forklift/scissor lift training and maintaining of license.
  • 1-2 years in a plastic production environment.
  • Machine operating experience.
  • Must be familiar with large processing equipment and GMP.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Extrusion Tech with the operation of a high-temperature plastic extrusion and slitting line.
  • Perform roll changeovers, packaging, and monitor raw materials.
  • Run reclaim equipment and process to grind or pelletize scrap.
  • Rework rolls to remove known defects.
  • Monitor raw material levels and assist with raw material loading.
  • Assist with cleaning out blenders and hoppers during shutdown.
  • Assist Extrusion Tech to lace up the line with the extruded sheet of hot melt to the winder.
  • Manually cut over and start new winder rolls.
  • Lift finished rolls from the machine and package them.
  • Request warehouse pickup for packaged rolls.
  • Use lift to clear trim removal system.
  • Segregate scrap material and move it to the reclaim room for reprocessing.
  • Support the reclaim equipment and process to convert scrap material back into pellets or regrind.
  • Relieve other employees during breaks.
  • Provide backup for other shifts and cover for absences/vacations.
  • Follow all GMP guidelines.
  • Adhere to all safety rules, procedures, and Code of Conduct.
  • Complete necessary documentation for rework and reprocessing pellets.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
  • Use computer to perform various ERP requirements.
  • Attend Safety Meetings, Green Area Meetings, and CIT meetings.
  • Responsible for following all Safety Rules, policies, procedures and work instructions.
  • Responsible for following all Food Safety related policies and procedures.
