About The Position

The Extrusion Operator II works under moderate supervision and is responsible for operating an extruder while following detailed process instructions and maintaining accurate records of inspection and material usage.

Requirements

  • 1+ years' experience as an extrusion operator.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent listening skills and initiative to seek clarification when instructions are not clear.
  • Able to follow written work instructions.
  • Able to work somewhat independently as well as collaboratively to support a team environment.
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Excellent attention to detail and consistently exercising good judgment.
  • Adapt well to changes in the work environment and able to multitask.
  • Accept responsibility for one's own actions.
  • Able to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
  • Able to perform physical tasks required while working including but not limited to lifting up to 40lbs., standing or walking for extended times, use of hands to operate machinery and power tools, climbing stairs/ladder, and frequent movement from kneeling or bending to standing and reaching overhead.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain proficiency in the extrusion machine's components and operational functionality through continuous hands-on experience and training on-site.
  • Monitor the extrusion process on a continuous basis to report any irregularities, including blockages, fluctuations in temperature, or pressure variations.
  • Inspect the extruded product regularly to ensure it meets customer specifications and quality standards.
  • Load raw materials and ensure consistent feeding to maintain a smooth extrusion process.
  • Change screen packs to maintain extruder performance.
  • Clean extrusion crossheads to ensure efficient production and product quality.
  • Make incremental adjustments to extruder inputs to maintain acceptable product specifications.
  • Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure that emergency stops and safety devices are functional.
  • Maintain accurate records of production runs including inspection, time and material usage, settings, and any issues encountered for quality assurance and future reference.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules.
  • Suggest ways to improve and promote quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
