About The Position

The Extrusion Operator I is responsible for assisting with order changes and set-ups, performing quality inspections and tests, cutting rolls, weighing and preparing roll tickets, monitoring and measuring silo levels and unloading rail cars, preparing production logs, product tags and time cards, operating the scrap grinder and understanding the recycle system, and transporting roll stock to the warehouse. The role requires regular and punctual attendance and adherence to plant safe housekeeping guidelines to ensure a safe work environment. The operator must be able to work 12-hour shifts on a 2.2.3 rotation, from 5:45 PM to 6:00 AM.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to print simple sentences and legibly complete reports and time cards.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions.
  • Ability to add and subtract three digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
  • Regular and punctual attendance.
  • Must be able to work 12 hour shifts on a 2.2.3 rotation. 545pm-6am.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to talk, hear, and push round rolls with varying weight of 140 – 600 lbs.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
