This role's primary purpose is to assist in and work towards independence in setting up, pulling down, making adjustments on, and tearing down of some extrusion lines and some profiles. The Extrusion Operator 1 will be responsible for ensuring extrusion operational readiness, which includes assisting with and working towards independence in the setup, tear down, and pull down of the extruder, tooling, and downstream equipment as directed by the Team Lead for specific extrusion lines and profiles. The operator will run extrusion lines for a whole day or part of a day, bring compound to the extruder and compound according to the set-up sheet, and make spools/boxes according to work instructions. Packaging of the extruded part will be done according to the set-up sheet, with frequent checks per the quality control plan/set-up sheet to ensure conformance to specifications. The role also involves identifying defects on extruded products, assisting in basic troubleshooting to bring parts back into specification, assisting with breaks as directed by management, and assisting in running the Regrind area. Maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly work area and following all requirements to support Vista Quality Objectives are also key responsibilities. If deficient in any area of responsibility, appropriate training will be implemented, and successful completion will be evaluated.
