About The Position

Monitor daily schedule and provide material handling in support of production operations. This role involves unloading and storing aluminum logs, receiving material, and moving logs to the log oven. The handler will also load and unload heat age ovens, record relevant data, ticket loads, and move them to storage. Additionally, this position oversees scrap levels, dumps scrap into trailers, records scrap pounds, and coordinates trailer pick-ups. A key responsibility is confirming material availability for scheduled production and communicating discrepancies to the Production Control Department. The handler will also assist in organizing and improving material identification and flow, and communicate inventory level concerns to Purchasing. Effective communication with other material handlers and supervisors is essential for smooth shift transitions. Additional duties may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education & experience
  • Knowledge of practices and procedures in a manufacturing environment related to the handling of material for production support and receiving of materials.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Basic math skills.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the daily schedule and provide material handling support to extrusion area.
  • Unload and store aluminum logs / receive material and support moving logs to the log oven.
  • Loads and unloads heat age ovens, records heat age data, tickets loads and moves to stores.
  • Oversee level of scrap in scrap trailers, dump scrap into trailers, record scrap pounds, coordinate the pick-up of scrap trailers.
  • Confirm all materials and buy-outs are on hand or will be available prior to the scheduled set-up/production.
  • Inform the Production Control Department when materials and schedules don't agree.
  • Assist in organizing/improving the identification and flow of materials with inventory levels that appear too high or too low.
  • Inform Purchasing when materials or inventory levels appear too high or low.
  • Communicate with other material handlers and supervisors to successfully sustain operations from shift to shift.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
