About The Position

The Extrusion Line Handler is responsible for safely guiding and handling aluminum extrusions as they exit the press to ensure smooth material flow and prevent product damage. This position works closely with the Press Operator to maintain production efficiency, support product quality, and ensure material is handled according to work instructions and customer requirements. The Extrusion Line Handler performs assigned visual quality checks and promptly reports production, quality, or equipment concerns.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to successfully complete on-the-job training in extrusion line handling, material flow, and inspection
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred
  • Aluminum extrusion experience is a plus
  • Basic understanding of material handling and its impact on product quality
  • Ability to read and understand work orders and production specifications
  • Basic math skills, including measurement conversions and piece count calculations.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify visible product defects.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to recognize equipment or process issues.
  • Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 10 hours per day.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to push, pull, bend, twist, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, and moving equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Aluminum extrusion experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Review and understand work orders, including product specifications, material requirements, and production
  • Safely guide extruded material through the production line to prevent scratches, bends, warping, or other handling
  • Assist the Press Operator in maintaining smooth and continuous material flow throughout the extrusion process.
  • Use basic math skills to calculate cut lengths and piece quantities as required by the work
  • Monitor material flow and notify the Press Operator or Press Lead of any production irregularities
  • Maintain efficient production while handling material carefully to prevent product damage.
  • Perform assigned visual quality checks throughout the extrusion process.
  • Inspect material for visible defects such as scratches, bends, warping, surface imperfections, or other handling-related damage.
  • Promptly report nonconforming material, quality concerns, or process deviations to the Press Operator or Press Lead.
  • Ensure suspect material is properly identified and separated in accordance with company procedures.
  • Accurately complete any required production or inspection documentation.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Report unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, or production concerns.
  • Handle material and equipment safely to prevent employee injury and product damage.
  • Report to work on time, prepared, and ready to perform assigned duties.
  • Communicate effectively with the Press Operator, Press Lead, and team members regarding production or quality concerns.
  • Work cooperatively with production personnel to maintain workflow and meet production goals.
  • Participate in training and continuously develop knowledge of extrusion processes and material handling.
