About The Position

This is a temp-to-hire position where the operator tends one single or dual extrusion line. The role involves monitoring extruder and line conditions, feeding raw material to the extruder, controlling the quality of extruded products, and packaging finished products.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required

Responsibilities

Sets up extruder and production line by assembling and bolting essential tooling and moving necessary equipment according to setup and production sheets.
Sets extruder heat controls per the setup sheet.
Ensures correct raw materials (Virgin, regrind, color concentrate) are at the extruder.
Monitors heats, loads extruder hopper with the proper mix of raw materials when temperatures are reached, and starts the extruder.
Verifies and adjusts extruder heats, speed, water conditions, and other conditions after extrudate is strung up.
Adjusts line speed, shape fixtures, heats, and water conditions as necessary to meet specifications.
Sets footage monitoring equipment to obtain correct footage or length.
Inspects and measures extrudate to verify conformance to specifications.
Continuously monitors extruder conditions, line conditions, and extrudate quality (size, shape, finish, bow, and color).
Moves extruder controls and line fixtures to adjust line conditions for quality control.
Spools and/or packages finished product properly per instructions.
Labels packaging properly per instructions.
Keeps all scrap and raw material labeled properly.
Assembles packaging (spools, boxes, etc.) for own line and other lines as time allows.
Stops extruder at the end of the run and disassembles and cleans plastic from extruder and die parts.
Tends machines and equipment other than extruder lines at times.
