About The Position
The Extruder Operator supports the Lead Operator and Shift Supervisor in the setup, operation, and monitoring of extrusion equipment. This role is responsible for material handling, basic machine support, quality checks, and maintaining a safe, clean and efficient work environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 1+ years of experience working on machines in a manufacturing environment
- Must be able to effectively read, write and communicate in English
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail
Responsibilities
- Assist Lead Operator and Shift Supervisor to operate the extrusion line on assigned shift
- Assist with machine setup, startup, and shutdown procedures
- Load raw materials (resins, additives, colorants) into hoppers and feeders
- Monitor extrusion lines for proper operation and notify Lead Operator of any issues
- Perform basic quality checks (visual inspections, measurements) on products
- Remove, package, and label finished products according to specifications
- Support changeovers, including cleaning and preparing tooling and equipment
- Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with 5S standards
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE
- Transport materials and finished goods (may use pallet jacks or forklifts if certified)
- Assist maintenance and operators with minor troubleshooting and adjustments
