About The Position

The Extruder Operator sets up jobs on the extruder, including changing the die set, installing deckles, setting roller gaps, loading materials, and maintaining the extruder to produce rolls of plastic for sale or use in production. The role includes monitoring and troubleshooting the equipment, overseeing jobs through completion, documenting maintenance, job setup, and quality standards, changing rolls with a hoist, and performing other department tasks. Operators follow good manufacturing practices to ensure product safety and must be able to work independently with sound technical judgment. Work is performed in a climate-controlled environment, with exposure to high temperatures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Attention to detail.
• Dexterity and the ability to work quickly and accurately.
• Proficiency in English.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound technical judgment without much technical direction from a manager.

Responsibilities

• Set up extruder jobs by changing the die set, installing deckles, setting roller gaps, and filling the extruder with materials.
• Maintain the extruder to produce rolls of plastic for sale or use in production.
• Monitor and troubleshoot problems with the extruder.
• Oversee each job that runs and ensure it is completed.
• Complete paperwork related to equipment maintenance, job setup, and quality standards.
• Change rolls on the extruder and use a hoist to lift and carry rolls to a skid.
• Perform maintenance activities on the extruder.
• Help with other tasks within the department.
• Follow good manufacturing practices to ensure product safety.
