About The Position

The primary function of this role is to monitor extrusion processes to produce foam rolls of various widths and thicknesses according to order specifications. The operator must report any machinery inconsistencies to the Supervisor, Shift Lead, and/or Manager, and maintain Darnel's safety and quality standards in all aspects of job performance.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to read, write, perform simple math, and have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken.
Ability to read and use measurement instruments.
Ability to plan and perform a sequence of operations where standards and recognized operation methods are available, and make general decisions regarding quality, set-up, and tolerances.
Forklift certification required.
Must be able to work 12-hour shifts.

Responsibilities

Set-up/start-up extruder and make die adjustments as required.
Efficiently string the line, doff rolls and grind scrap.
Record and monitor line settings and react quickly to any process changes to avoid major line disruptions.
Ensure product quality using calipers, scales, micrometers, and other measurement devices or equipment.
Prepare and complete quality control paperwork, production tracking, and computer data entry daily.
Report machinery problems to the Lead Operator/Supervisor or Manager and communicate required machine repairs to maintenance.
Maintain a chronological logbook for extrusion processes by shift, documenting any shift issues or events.
Maintain good housekeeping of machines, floors, trashcans, and waste according to AIB requirements.
Operate a forklift to prepare, maintain, and retrieve raw materials, ensuring proper set-up for the next shift.
Properly label, pelletize, and stage finished product.
Use PeopleSoft to report production, generate labels, and consume product.
Cross-train on all extrusion processing equipment, including the blending system, vacuum system, screen changer, extruder controls, and winders.
Perform any other assigned duties or tasks requested by management.
