About The Position

As an Extruder Operator at Maverick Pipe at Zekelman Industries, Richmond, KY, this role is responsible for working as part of a production team to operate and maintain extrusion equipment used to manufacture high-quality window parts that meet customer specifications. This position supports efficient production operations by minimizing downtime and waste while maintaining safety and quality standards. Requirements

  • One or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and SPC processes
  • Ability to read and understand packaging layouts and manufacturing documentation
  • Basic math and reading skills at a 9th-grade level or higher
  • Experience using air guns, banders, chop saws, hand tools, calipers, radial arm saws, and related equipment
  • Ability to work scheduled shifts, including night shift as required
  • Stable work history with strong attendance and dependability
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull production materials and finished products as required
  • Stand and move throughout the shift in a manufacturing environment
  • Perform repetitive manual tasks requiring coordination and stamina
  • Work safely around production machinery and moving equipment

Responsibilities

  • Make and transport wood or plastic crates for finished window parts
  • Place parts into crates and label products according to packaging procedures and safe body mechanics
  • Perform quality checks on parts and document inspection results
  • Identify and report product defects such as sink lines and weaves
  • Anticipate material demand by planning and monitoring production lines
  • Cut and weigh product samples for quality assurance testing and customer requirements
  • Record sold quantities, scrap quantities, line speed, SPC, and O.E.E. data
  • Assist with equipment setups and changeovers
  • Ensure hoppers and water misters are properly filled and process parameters are maintained
  • Clean saws, saw bags, downstream equipment, and extruders while maintaining housekeeping standards
  • Adjust extruders to ensure correct product dimensions and weights as needed
  • Adjust calibrator blocks, die heats, extruder speed, water flow, and vacuum settings to maintain product quality
  • Carry packaging materials to designated production areas
  • Push finished product carts to staging areas and preload packaging materials as needed
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment including floors, machines, and surrounding areas
