Extra Help Grounds Worker
About The Position
This position is for an Extra Help Grounds Worker within the Campus Services Division / Grounds department at Illinois State University. The role involves performing general grounds work applicable to the season. Extra Help employees are limited to working up to 28 hours per week across all University employment and are only paid for hours worked. They do not qualify for most benefits, including health insurance and retirement, but are eligible to participate in the University’s supplemental retirement savings plans (403b). There is no guarantee that working as Extra Help will lead to or secure permanent employment, and employees may only work up to 900 hours total during their employment. The position is subject to a criminal background investigation and employment history review. All work under this appointment is required to be performed from within the State of Illinois.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to bend, twist, kneel or crouch for up to three hours at a time
- Manual dexterity for transplanting and floral design
- Ability to lift 75 pounds
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without ISU sponsorship
