The University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) is a vibrant campus committed to inclusive excellence and a leader in co-operative education and work-integrated learning (WIL) for 50 years. The Department of Arts and Science Co-op is responsible for preparing over 3000 undergraduate students from 58 academic areas for paid co-op work term opportunities and engaging industry partners to provide these terms. This department works closely with academic departments, support services, and employer/community partners to support students in achieving their academic and co-op/integrated learning aspirations. The External Relations Officer, reporting to the Team Lead, External Relations and Industry Partnerships, is crucial in ensuring co-op students have a wide range of quality, paid co-op work term opportunities. The primary goal is to develop, nurture, and manage strong co-op employer partner relationships to create high-quality, academically relevant, paid co-op work terms. This involves conducting market research, identifying target markets, and using sales, business development, and partnership-building techniques to establish new employer relationships and expand existing ones. The officer will set annual plans and performance targets for new employer development and account retention, all with the ultimate goal of facilitating student success and supporting their co-op ambitions.
