The Communications and External Relations Vice-Presidency (CERVP) manages the WBG’s external engagement, reputation, and strategic communications. Within CER, the Department of Global External Relations (CERGE) leads the institution’s global engagement across civil society, think tanks, academia, philanthropy, faith-based organizations, alumni, and the private sector. CERGE also oversees major WBG corporate campaigns — including the Community Outreach Program (CERCO) — as part of its mandate to strengthen institutional engagement and community connection. The Community Outreach Program (CERCO) delivers the WBG’s corporate social responsibility agenda, enabling staff and retirees to contribute through workplace giving, volunteerism, grants, internships, and in-kind donations. The Community Connections Campaign (CCC) is its flagship workplace giving campaign.

Requirements

  • Master's degree with 5+ years relevant experience or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience with the CCC and/or other Community Outreach programs.
  • Experience with community engagement with nonprofits/NGOs and fundraising.
  • Experience with financial reporting and overseeing payment processes.
  • Experience with data management/visualization.
  • Broad-based project management skillset with aptitude to navigate customized databases/platforms.
  • Ability to manage without authority, including leading multi-disciplinary teams across a matrixed environment, tracking required action items, and following up to ensure successful resolution.
  • High degree of self-motivation, reliability, and ability to work autonomously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact with external and internal audiences of various types and levels and to make presentations to various size groups.
  • Identifies and pursues innovative approaches to resolve issues.
  • Identifies and understands risks and proposes recommendations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with accounting (CTR), budget (WBP), procurement (WBP), IT (ITS, DPO), payroll (CTR), SaaS platforms, and/or external vendors a significant plus.
  • Country office experience a significant plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage CERCO’s relationship and contract with the external vendor (Benevity) which hosts the CCC platform (http://eGive/) and Community Outreach databases. Coordinate monitoring of sites, including troubleshooting and resolving technical and user errors and facilitating requests for platform enhancements. Lead data reporting and analyze data trends for key insights to track results and drive communications.
  • Manage CERCO’s relationship with CTR accounting and WBP budget teams. Oversee monthly payment and reconciliation processes to ensure successful flow of funds of $14M+ annually. Support CERCO’s relationship with central budget teams and facilitate necessary corporate match approvals. Coordinate financial reporting with Accounts Payable.
  • Manage CERCO’s relationship with payroll business processes to fulfill biweekly payroll deduction processes and help troubleshoot any payroll donation issues.
  • Manage CERCO’s relationship with ITS and the DPO to ensure the continued functioning of http://eGive/ and the protection of personally identifiable information of WBG staff/retirees. Work with ITS to troubleshoot any technical issues regarding site access or functionality.
  • Lead a network of 200 staff in 80+ country offices. Train staff on procedures and guidelines to implement programming in local offices and serve as primary point of contact for any questions.
  • Lead due diligence reviews of 200+ NGOs to ensure they remain compliant with the CCC and vendor’s requirements. Troubleshoot issues that arise with local regulations that impact the ability to facilitate cross-border disbursals.
  • Tabulate country office participation and NGO donation data and share regular updates with coordinators. Promote country office engagement internally and externally.
  • Support the administration of ad hoc natural disaster relief drives.
  • Help identify opportunities to create and deepen partnerships with NGO partners.
  • Help design and deliver compelling and innovative employee engagement strategies for CERCO programs that inspire, engage, and connect staff across the institution and around the world.
  • Help develop and implement internal and external communications strategies, including supporting senior management, intranet stories, websites, annual reports, promotional materials, and other projects as needed.
  • Organize and maintain unit’s knowledge management systems.
  • Serve as representative for the unit internally and externally as requested.
  • Other projects and supports as the needs arises.
