About The Position

As an Exterior Door Shop Associate at BPI, you will help build and assemble high-quality exterior door systems at our Sioux Falls Millwork facility. This hands-on role involves working with a variety of materials, tools, equipment, and assembly processes to produce doors accurately, efficiently, and according to customer specifications. Success in this role requires attention to detail, a dependable work ethic, and a commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork. Your work helps ensure our customers receive accurately built, properly finished, and securely packaged exterior doors. By maintaining quality standards and supporting an organized production environment, you will contribute directly to the dependable service BPI customers expect.

Requirements

  • Ability to accurately read and use a standard tape measure.
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new machinery and production processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and able to take a proactive approach to assigned work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures, production instructions, and schedules.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous carpentry, construction, manufacturing, millwork, or assembly experience.
  • Working knowledge of building materials.
  • Experience operating production machinery or CNC equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Build, assemble, and customize exterior door units according to production requirements and customer specifications.
  • Install insulation and apply caulk between frame components.
  • Mark hinge locations using templates and attach hinges with appropriate tools.
  • Attach metal panels to doorframes using hand tools or a rivet gun.
  • Install metal and rubber weatherstripping as required.
  • Apply protective cardboard and package completed door units for handling and delivery.
  • Operate power tools and learn to use production equipment, including the door lite cutter and CNC machinery.
  • Inspect work throughout the assembly process to help maintain BPI’s quality standards.
  • Follow production schedules and work at a steady, consistent pace.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
  • Follow safe work practices and wear required personal protective equipment, including high-visibility clothing, safety glasses, and safety footwear.
  • Work collaboratively with teammates to support daily production goals.
