Extended Day Teacher 2026-2027
About The Position
San Francisco Friends School is seeking an Extended Day Teacher for its Extended Day program serving K–4th grade students and its After3 program serving 5th–8th grade students. The programs value play and provide students with opportunities to study, pursue activities they enjoy, and spend time in a safe, supportive environment. The school seeks people who enjoy connecting with children, love to play, and can help keep students safe. This position works weekday afternoons during the academic school year, following the school calendar, for approximately 17.5 hours per week. Compensation is $23 per hour. The position is not eligible for employee benefits or paid time off; paid sick time and health coverage are provided only as required by applicable local, state, and federal laws and ordinances. Those seeking additional work hours may also choose to work as an on-call substitute teacher during the school day.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- At least six months of experience working with students in a school or educational setting, such as tutoring, camp counseling, or childcare.
- Enthusiasm, creativity, and a love of children.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Must pass a background check, including Live Scan fingerprinting.
- Must provide recent TB clearance before starting.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
- Help maintain student safety.
- Help maintain a calm, clean environment indoors and outdoors.
- Mediate disputes between students as needed.
- Plan and facilitate activities, including games, arts, cooking, and sports.
- Assist students with homework.
- Prepare and serve a healthy snack.
- Collaborate with fellow team members.
- Attend weekly staff meetings.
