Extended Day Program Teacher - Part-Time
About The Position
The Extended Day Program Teacher is responsible for leading students in a safe and engaging after-school experience. This role involves directly supervising and engaging a group of students in daily activities, ensuring their emotional and physical safety. The teacher will collaborate with colleagues to plan a range of activities and programs, and participate in regular meetings with the Director of the Extended Day Program (EDP) and other teachers for planning and discussion. Preparation for instruction includes setting up spaces, gathering materials, and communicating student needs and lesson plans. The teacher is expected to model appropriate behavior and respond effectively to challenging student behaviors, adhering to school-wide expectations.
Requirements
- Successful criminal background check
- Prior experience in a related position working with children
- A high school diploma or equivalent
Nice To Haves
- Current CPR/AED & first aid certification (certification will be provided if needed)
- Enthusiasm for working with children in grades Pre-K through 4
- Creativity to plan engaging activities
- Flexibility to adapt plans and lessons to meet the time, material, and spatial constraints of EDP
- Classroom management skills
Responsibilities
- Directly supervise and engage a group of students in activities daily, ensuring emotional and physical safety for all students in their care
- Collaborate with other teachers to plan a range of activities and programs for students
- Participate in 2:15 meetings several times each week with the EDP Director and other teachers to plan, collaborate, and discuss topics around EDP
- Prepare for instruction daily, including setting up spaces, gathering materials, and communicating with the EDP Director and other teachers about students, lessons, and any other needs
- Model appropriate, positive behavior for students and respond appropriately to challenging student behaviors based on school-wide expectations and management strategies
- Perform other duties as required
