About The Position

This is a part-time position providing a safe and supportive learning environment for students in grades Preschool through 5th grade during extended care hours. The role involves supervising students, distributing snacks, creating engaging activities, and supporting students with instruction and homework. The position reports to the Principal.

Requirements

Practical oral and written communication skills.
Understand and follow specific instructions and procedures, including safety procedures.
Possess child supervision skills.
Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for children.
Skilled in preparing instructional aids and plans.
High school diploma or GED required.
Prior experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting.
Demonstrated patience, compassion, and strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with school staff.
Must pass a background check and meet all state and diocesan requirements for working with children.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree or experience in childcare/education preferred.
CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

Provide students with a safe and supportive learning environment in both the classroom and on the playground.
Gather students and take attendance.
Distribute snacks and milk to students.
Create activities and prepare materials that are interesting, educational, and safe for students in grades Preschool through 5th grade.
Support students who need help with instruction, homework, and activities.
Supervise students in the extended care program during designated hours.
Plan and facilitate age-appropriate games, activities, and quiet time.
Ensure student safety and adherence to school behavioral expectations.
Maintain accurate attendance and incident records as required.
Communicate effectively with parents during pick-up and drop-off.
Perform other duties as assigned.
